Ivanka Trump Honors Audrey Hepburn with Dress Choice
American Ivanka Trump (43) wore the same Givenchy dress as Dutch/American actress Audrey Hepburn in 1954 during her father's inauguration. The white, sleeveless creation with embroidered flowers was originally designed for the film star for her role in 'Sabrina'. In contrast to the legendary actress, the president's daughter paired the dress with long black opera gloves instead of white. Her blonde hair was styled in a tight bun, adorned with diamond jewelry from Leviev. Ivanka Trump was reportedly honored and grateful that Givenchy created this dress for her. According to a White House representative, 'Audrey Hepburn has long been an inspiration for Ivanka. She possessed grace and impeccable style, and symbolized courage, resilience, and extraordinary kindness. She showed the world that true beauty lies in compassion and courage'.
Audrey Hepburn: Hollywood Icon and Humanitarian
Hepburn (1929-1993) was one of Hollywood's biggest stars, appearing in less than 20 films but earning global acclaim. Her iconic roles included 'Breakfast At Tiffany's', 'My Fair Lady', and 'Roman Holiday', for which she won an Oscar. Beyond her acting career, she was known for her humanitarian work with UNICEF. Fluent in English, Dutch, French, Italian, and Spanish, Audrey passed away in 1993 at her Swiss home after battling colon cancer.
Born in Brussels, Audrey spent her early years in Arnhem with her Dutch mother (a baroness) following her parents’ divorce. During the bombings in Arnhem, she had to seek refuge in a cellar and suffered from severe malnutrition. Her uncle Otto van Limburg Stirum, a magistrate who refused to support the Nazis, was executed on August 15, 1942.
