Italy's Migration Plan to Albania Reignites Controversy
Italy has begun relocating rescued irregular migrants to two facilities in Albania, established under a 2023 agreement between Rome and Tirana. The controversial move comes after the activation of these migrant centers in October 2024. According to the Italian Ministry of Interior, 49 migrants rescued by the Italian navy in international waters off the coast of Lampedusa Island are being transported to Shengjin Port in northern Albania onboard the 'Cassiopea' patrol vessel.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that US President Donald Trump also has a plan to settle 100,000 Gazans in Albania.
