jerusalem - The Israeli Security Council advises Israeli football fans not to attend the football match between France and Israel in Paris following violence in Amsterdam.
The Israeli Security Council advises Israeli football fans to avoid attending the football match between France and Israel in Paris on Thursday. This advice comes after violence broke out in Amsterdam on Thursday following a match between the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax.
Around 4000 police officers will be deployed around the stadium during the match, according to police chief Laurent Nunez of Paris. A ban on Palestinian flags will be enforced in the stadium during the match. Nunez stated to French media, 'There should be no politically motivated messages in the stadium, nor Palestinian flags. Only French and Israeli flags will be present in the stadium.'
The right-wing Jewish movement Betar plans to demonstrate in Paris before the match in support of Israel and against anti-Semitism. Betar leader Yigal Brand stated, 'We are proud Zionists and have nothing to apologize for.'
