Israeli Foreign Minister's Ceasefire Announcement
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced readiness to move to the second phase of ceasefire in Gaza Strip, with the condition of releasing more hostages. Saar emphasized the need for an agreement on releasing more hostages to extend the timeframe or framework of the ceasefire.
Saar addressed the speculations in the Israeli media about a 10-day deadline for the ceasefire agreement and the possibility of resuming conflicts, stating that Israel will act if deemed necessary.
The first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza Strip, in effect since January 19, ended on February 2, with negotiations for the second phase facing a deadlock. The initial phase saw the release of over 1,700 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons, 33 Israeli hostages (25 alive, 8 deceased) from Gaza, and 5 Thai hostages.
