tehran - The Iranian judiciary is not prosecuting the Iranian student who protested in her underwear against the security forces and was arrested in early November, citing her illness as the reason.

The Iranian judiciary has decided not to prosecute the Iranian student who protested in her underwear against the security forces and was subsequently arrested. During a press conference, a judiciary spokesman, Asghar Jahangir, stated that she was not being prosecuted because she was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with an illness. She has since been handed over to her family for care.

The incident took place at the private university Azad in the capital Tehran. A video circulating on social media shows the young woman walking back and forth with her arms crossed, wearing only a bra and underwear. She is then picked up by plainclothes men.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has enshrined the dress code, which mandates headscarves and loose clothing for women, in law.
