Iran's Foreign Minister Addresses Lack of Communication from Trump
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that they have not received any clear message from US President Donald Trump regarding the resumption of nuclear negotiations. Despite ongoing talks with European countries, the trust issue with the US remains due to past violations of agreements. Araghchi emphasized the need for a practical and clear political approach to rebuild trust. Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hamid Riza Haji Babayi expressed willingness for fair negotiations with the US, emphasizing that Iran's enmity is not towards the American people but against attempts to impose dominance. The nuclear negotiations, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), were signed in 2015 by Iran and the P5+1 countries. However, in 2018, the US unilaterally withdrew from the agreement under the Trump administration, leading to unsuccessful efforts to restart negotiations. Iran had escalated uranium enrichment to 60% in response. Recent discussions between Iran and the UK, Germany, and France indicate a potential return to negotiation stages.
