Death Penalty for Blasphemy
An Iranian court has sentenced the popular singer Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, known as Amir Tataloo, to death for blasphemy. Earlier, he was given five years for blasphemy, but the prosecutor objected. The case was reopened and Tataloo has now been sentenced to death in appeal for insulting the Islamic prophet Muhammad, Iranian media report. The 37-year-old singer, rapper, and songwriter is part of the first generation of the underground hip-hop scene in the strict Islamic country. Almost his entire body is adorned with tattoos. In his songs and on social media, he often criticizes the Tehran regime for human rights violations.
