iran - Iran condemns US decision to impose sanctions on international network facilitating Iran's oil shipments to China, citing it as illegal.

Iran's Response to US Sanctions

Iran strongly criticizes the recent US decision to impose sanctions on an international network facilitating Iran's oil shipments to China. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi labeled the move as illegal and a violation of international law. Bekayi emphasized that the US action of obstructing Iran's legal trade with its economic partners puts pressure on the Iranian people and holds the US accountable for the consequences. The tension between the US and Iran escalates as Washington introduces new sanctions targeting Tehran. US President Donald Trump signed an executive order reinstating the 'maximum pressure' policy to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and halt its oil exports. The US Treasury Department announced sanctions on an international network aiding Iran's oil shipments to China. Entities in China, India, and the UAE were listed for sanctions. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reiterated the US commitment to obstructing Iran's activities, marking the first sanctions against Iran under the Trump administration. The US Treasury Department sanctioned an international company facilitating Iran's crude oil shipments to China and targeted the Iranian Armed Forces and the previously sanctioned Sepehr Energy company, along with various entities, individuals, and ships.
