Influencer Arrested at Berlin Airport After Firing Firework in Child's Bedroom, Posts Video Online
berlin - The influencer, Attalah Younes, caused outrage in Germany by sharing a video of himself shooting a firework into a child's bedroom.
The video caused outrage in Germany. On Instagram, Attalah Younes (23) bragged about shooting a firework directly into a child's bedroom across the street. A loud bang followed. Fortunately, no one was in the room at the time of the explosion. The extent of smoke or fire damage is unknown, but a large flame did follow the bang.
Surprisingly, Younes found it amusing and even posted the video on social media. With over 311,000 followers on Instagram, the video quickly went viral.
However, the reactions were not as positive as he may have expected. The Berlin police, who began an investigation the following day, also took notice of the video.
Younes quickly removed the video and supposedly apologized to the owner of the flat. However, the German authorities were not satisfied. 'Apologies are not enough; he put lives in danger,' they said.
They did not know his whereabouts to question him, but a tip led authorities to him. It was discovered that Younes had booked a flight at 5:55 p.m. from Berlin to Amman, Jordan, where he planned to travel to the West Bank. Before boarding the plane, he was apprehended by heavily armed agents.
According to Bild, a German newspaper, he is currently in custody on suspicion of arson. The Public Prosecutor's Office stated that by committing criminal acts, filming them, and sharing them on social media to reach a wide audience, he endangered lives.
He will have to answer to the court soon and may face a prison sentence. Younes has also responded in a video to the controversy, citing 'racism' from both Germans and Arabs, who are 'his brothers.' He claimed it was an unconscious act.
