moscow - Hundreds of people gathered at the grave of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny in Moscow.
Allegations of Foul Play Surrounding Navalny's Death
Hundreds gathered at the grave of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny (1976-2024) in Moscow. Authorities claim he suddenly fell ill and efforts were made to save him. However, his family and supporters believe he was murdered by President Vladimir Putin, a claim supported by Western leaders. The EU's top foreign affairs representative, Kaja Kallas, accused Putin of being ultimately responsible for Navalny's death.
Critics of the Kremlin argue that the multiple prison sentences imposed on Navalny were aimed at preventing him from becoming a serious challenger to Putin. Navalny, known for his anti-corruption campaigns on social media, aimed to run for mayor of Moscow and even for president. Despite surviving several assassination attempts, he made powerful enemies within the political and economic elites.
