Military Accident in Pocheon
Eight individuals were injured on Thursday when a grenade landed in a residential area in South Korean city of Pocheon. The South Korean Air Force reported that one of its fighter jets accidentally dropped eight bombs in the wrong location during a training exercise, causing civilian injuries. The fighter jet was said to have released eight bombs 'abnormally', which then landed outside the designated firing zone, according to the air force. The incident, resulting in civilian casualties, is deeply regretted by the air force.
The current military exercises of South Korea and the United States are related to the annual drills scheduled to begin there next week. Pocheon is located near the heavily militarized border with North Korea, approximately forty kilometers northeast of Seoul.
