Greenland Seeks to Collaborate with Donald Trump on Defense
nuuk - Greenland's Prime Minister expressed interest in enhancing collaboration with the United States on defense and resource research.
Greenland's Prime Minister MĂște Egede stated during a press conference that Greenland is looking to strengthen its partnership with the upcoming U.S. administration under Donald Trump, particularly in the areas of defense and resource exploration. This comes in the wake of President-elect Trump's previous remarks hinting at potential military or economic pressure to acquire Greenland's resource-rich territory, which were later downplayed by his incoming Vice President JD Vance.
"The independence of Greenland is Greenland's concern," emphasized Egede regarding any potential expansion of U.S. military presence on the island. "Therefore, it will be Greenland that determines the terms of any agreement that may be reached."
He also noted that this marks the first time a keen interest is being shown towards Greenland in such a significant manner. "We must remain composed, leverage the opportunities presented, and stand united," Egede added.
