Greek Farmers Protest in Thessaloniki
Farmers in Greece gathered in Thessaloniki to protest and demand support from the government. They marched towards a hotel where Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was attending an event.
Dozens of tractors entered the city and farmers assembled in the city center. The protesters called for a reduction in production costs, tax exemption on fuel used in agriculture, lowering of electricity prices, removal of VAT on agricultural purchases, full compensation for agricultural areas in case of natural disasters, and an increase in retirement pensions.
Beekeepers and livestock breeders also joined the protest to show solidarity with the farmers.
