Greece Reacts to Turkey's Naval Exercise 'Blue Homeland 2025'
greece - Greece shows concern over Turkey's increasing naval power and military capabilities with the 'Blue Homeland 2025' naval exercise.
Greece has expressed concern over Turkey's 'Blue Homeland 2025' naval exercise, which began on January 7th and is scheduled to continue until January 16th in the Black Sea, Aegean, and Mediterranean. The Greek press described the exercise as an expression of Turkey's rising maritime power. The Kathimerini newspaper used the headline 'Turkish-Greek: It's a tough navy balance of power.'
The newspaper pointed out that Turkey's navy has been rapidly strengthening with its indigenous naval fleet renewal program. Turkey's development of maritime missiles like ATMACA and weapon systems like the National Vertical Launcher Firing System (MIDLAS) has also enhanced its naval capabilities.
On the other hand, Greece is planning to reinforce its navy by introducing new frigates and participating in the Eurocorvette project with France, Italy, and Spain. However, the Greek navy has faced challenges due to resignations within its ranks.
