berlin, germany - The most expensive villa in Germany, located on the exclusive island of Schwanenwerder outside Berlin, is now on the market for nearly 79 million euros.
Exclusive Listing in Berlin
The most expensive villa in Germany has been put up for sale on the exclusive island of Schwanenwerder, just outside the bustling city of Berlin. The property, ironically referred to as a 'single-family home' by the real estate division of auction house Christie's, comes with a staggering price tag of almost 79 million euros.
Featuring nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a sauna, and a living space of 1500 square meters, the villa offers ample space for a sizeable family. The property is described by the real estate information as 'almost surreal' in terms of its view, luxury, and comfort. One of the upper floors even boasts a heated indoor swimming pool that runs alongside a glass rooftop terrace.
The villa also includes a total land area of 10,000 square meters, which encompasses a vast garden by the waterfront, a boathouse, and a private dock.
Architectural Excellence
Christie's describes the villa as an 'exclusive architectural icon', with the design crafted by the renowned architectural firm Graft. The exact identity of the owner remains a mystery, with speculations linking the property to celebrities like Brad Pitt, although his spokesperson denies his involvement.
Public records indicate that the villa is owned by two board members of Magix AG, a German multimedia company that went bankrupt last year.
Controversy and Neighborhood Dispute
Despite its grandeur, the construction of the villa stirred controversy among locals due to alleged violations of building regulations. The project, approved directly by the former city councilor without following standard procedures, disregarded the strict architectural guidelines of Schwanenwerder.
New houses on the island are supposed to adhere to specific design standards, including a maximum length of thirty meters and a historical country house style with a pitched roof, criteria not met by the villa designed by Graft.
Neighbours have criticized the villa as a 'bunker complex' that disrupts the island's traditional charm. Whether the future owners can mend fences with the community remains uncertain.
