berlin - The German parliament, the Bundestag, has voted to oust the government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz through a vote of confidence, paving the way for early parliamentary elections next year.
Chancellor Scholz is expected to ask President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to dissolve the parliament and call for new elections. The election must be held within sixty days. Scholz has proposed February 23, and Steinmeier appears likely to agree.
