Extremist Plot Uncovered
A German terrorist group, the 'Patriots Association', has been sentenced to long prison terms for planning to kidnap Minister Karl Lauterbach and overthrow the government. The group, consisting of radicalized 'Rijksburgers', aimed to carry out armed coups and attacks.
After a two-year trial, the four main suspects received sentences ranging from over five to eight years in prison, while an accomplice was sentenced to over two years. The 'Rijksburgers' are a group of twenty thousand individuals who do not recognize the German government. The trial revealed the suspects as conspiracy theorists, particularly expressing hatred towards the political class during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The group had amassed 12,000 euros to purchase weapons, with plans to attack the power supply. One member, a 77-year-old teacher, promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, referring to Chancellor Olaf Scholz as the 'director of the BRD GmbH' and denying Germany's sovereignty. The group aimed to establish a new empire, dismissing historical events like the German emperor's abdication.
