German Intelligence Services Warn of Russia's Strength: 'The Storm Has Become a Hurricane'

berlin - German intelligence services have raised alarms in Berlin about the threat posed by Russia, with a focus on NATO's vulnerability and defensive capacity.

German intelligence services sounded the alarm before a parliamentary committee in Berlin on Monday regarding the Russian threat. According to BND chief Bruno Kahl, responsible for foreign intelligence, Moscow is engaged in a shadow war. 'Putin is testing the West's red lines.' This involves two main issues: NATO's 'closure' and 'defensive capacity'.

The senior official highlights the danger that NATO may have to defend itself 'at a certain point' through the famous Article 5 due to Russia's ongoing attacks. 'Even in a direct confrontation with Russia.' Kahl believes that by the end of the decade, Moscow could have enough personnel and equipment to 'launch an attack on NATO.' He explains that the militarization of Russian society is in full swing. 'The society is preparing for a protracted conflict with the West.'

His colleague Thomas Haldenwang from the domestic intelligence service BfV had previously described Russia as 'the storm.' On Monday, Haldenwang added that 'the storm has become a hurricane' that is moving from East to West Europe.

There have already been enough examples of incidents. In a DHL logistics center in Leipzig, a package suddenly caught fire in July, causing a cargo container to ignite.

Haldenwang informed the parliamentarians on Monday that only by lucky coincidence did the package not catch fire on board a plane. The relevant aircraft was delayed. The package originated from the Baltic region.
