German Chancellor Scholz Criticizes 'Unstable Statements' of Musk
berlin - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz dismisses Elon Musk's recent remarks, emphasizing the strength of German democracy.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is unimpressed by the recent criticisms made by Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk. The Social Democrat pushed back against Musk's statements, who has voiced support for the German far-right party AfD in recent weeks. The top advisor to the incoming U.S. president, Donald Trump, referred to Chancellor Scholz as 'a fool' and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier as 'an undemocratic tyrant.'
In an interview with Stern, Scholz refuted these claims. 'The President is not antidemocratic and Germany is a strong and stable democracy. Musk is free to say what he wants. In Germany, it is the will of the people that matters, not the unstable statements of an American billionaire.'
The Chancellor also stated that he has no intention of inviting Musk to the Chancellery for a discussion. 'I see no reason to court Mr. Musk. I leave that task to others.'
Germany will head to the polls on February 23rd following the collapse of the purple-green government in November over budget issues. In the polls, AfD has risen to the second spot, following the conservative CDU.
