berlin - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has dismissed liberal Finance Minister Christian Lindner amid growing tensions within the ruling coalition.

Chancellor Scholz has stated that he felt compelled to dismiss Lindner and plans to seek a vote of confidence in the Bundestag in mid-January. If he does not receive the support, early parliamentary elections may be held in late March.

The distrust towards Lindner was significant, with reports of him challenging Scholz during a crisis meeting and proposing early elections. Scholz described Lindner as 'irresponsible' and 'disrespectful', accusing him of prioritizing his party over the country's welfare.

The dismissal of Lindner has thrown the German government into turmoil, with concerns over domestic issues and external pressures, including challenges from the Trump administration and financial strains.
