German CDU Member Calls for Vote on Ban on AfD
berlin - A member of the German CDU calls for a vote in the Bundestag on a ban on the 'state-dangerous' AfD.
A parliamentarian of the German CDU is pushing for a vote in the Bundestag regarding a ban on the 'state-dangerous' AfD. The danger posed by this Alternative für Deutschland becomes concrete with the recent arrests of three AfD politicians from Saxony. This group, along with two dozen others, had orchestrated extensive plans for an armed coup and the establishment of the 'SS', the 'Saxon separatists', bearing resemblance to the criminal Nazi organization not only in name.
Recent events involving the AfD have raised concerns not only within the German Justice system but also internationally. The party's close ties with Russia, accused by law enforcement agencies of providing bribes and disinformation, as well as the infiltration of Chinese spies within the AfD ranks through recent arrests, highlight the complexity of the situation.
Over a hundred parliamentarians in the Bundestag have filed for a ban, emphasizing that the recent arrests of public representatives demonstrate the grave threat posed by the AfD. The arrest of AfD representative Malsack-Winkemann further accentuated this point, revealing plans of an armed coup in collaboration with criminal groups who refuse to acknowledge the state's authority.
Despite the nationwide presence of AfD politicians, with significant influence in Thuringia, Brandenburg, and Saxony where they aim to govern, concerns over the misuse of the domestic intelligence agency persist. Regional officials and mayors affiliated with the Alternative für Deutschland claim that the agency is being leveraged for political agendas.
The 'Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution', the official name of the agency, has issued detailed reports highlighting the aggressive stance of the party against German democracy. Consequently, CDU parliamentarian Marco Wanderwitz aims to push for a vote on the party's ban, garnering support from over a hundred colleagues from SPD, Greens, and FDP, in addition to fifty Christian Democrats from his own party and the CSU. Wanderwitz stresses the urgency of the matter, stating, 'It must happen quickly now.'
