At the brink of ceasefire in the Gaza conflict, negotiations for a ceasefire and a hostage exchange agreement have reached their final stages. Key mediator Qatar, hosting the talks, has announced that the agreement is 'very close'.

Speaking after the last round of talks, Qatar's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Macid el-Ensari, stated that they are at the 'closest point' to announcing the agreement. Incoming President of the United States, Donald Trump, who is set to take office in five days, also mentioned, 'I understand that there is a handshake, and they will finish it'.

Hamas allegedly approved the draft agreement yesterday. At a press conference in Doha, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson El Ensari expressed a 'special optimism' this time. However, he warned that 'even the smallest detail can derail the entire process. The underlying issues have been resolved, but this does not mean the agreement has materialized. As in the past, we may get lost in the details.'
