Friend of Trump Appointed to Board of Meta's Parent Company - Facebook
amsterdam - Dana White, the head of UFC, a close friend of Trump, has been appointed to the board of Meta's parent company, Facebook. Zuckerberg praised White and other new board members for their experience and perspectives.
Dana White, the head of UFC, who is a close friend of former President Trump, has been appointed to the board of directors of Meta's parent company, Facebook. White's appointment comes as no surprise, as Zuckerberg has been strengthening his ties with White in recent years, regularly attending UFC events and sharing an interest in martial arts. Meanwhile, Meta has adjusted its stance towards conservative circles, appointing a prominent Republican policy maker to a higher position and previously donating a million dollars to a fund associated with Trump.
"I have never had an interest in joining a board of directors until this opportunity came along," White said in a press release. "I strongly believe that social media and AI are the future. I am looking forward to helping build the Meta brand and learning more about this industry."
In addition to White, Meta has added two more new members to its board of directors. They are John Elkann, the CEO of Exor, a company listed on the AEX, and technology investor Charlie Songhurst, who previously worked at Microsoft and was involved in the acquisition of Skype.
Zuckerberg praised White and the other newcomers. "Dana, John, and Charlie bring a wealth of experience and perspectives," said the tech billionaire. "They will help us seize tremendous opportunities in AI, wearables, and human connectivity." Elkann, who is also the CEO of Ferrari and Stellantis, brings a 'long-term perspective' to the board, according to Zuckerberg. Songhurst, with experience in AI and deep tech, has previously advised Meta on strategic growth opportunities.
