French Homeless Man Found Dead in Lyon, Possibly Killed by Concrete Block
lyon - A homeless man was found dead on the streets of Lyon, France, possibly killed by a concrete block. The incident shows similarities to a prior case in Rotterdam.
A homeless man was found dead on the streets of Lyon, France. The incident occurred on Monday morning just before 10 am and was captured by a security camera. The footage shows someone striking the victim. Nearby, the emergency services found a bloodied cinder block. The police have launched an investigation.
This case bears close resemblance to a nighttime attempted murder on November 5th in Rotterdam, where 37-year-old Benjamin was severely injured after an unidentified man threw a paving stone at his head. The suspect, captured by a security camera at the Maritime Museum, fled through Breda station and was later spotted two days later. The man then boarded an international train towards Antwerp and Brussels. The police indicated the suspect might have traveled further south.
The Rotterdam police are aware of the Lyon case and are incorporating it into their investigation. They are in contact with their French counterparts and are actively searching for the suspect,” a spokeswoman said.
The homeless man, Benjamin, is still fighting for his life in the hospital. His sister, Amy, has started a crowdfunding campaign 'so Benjamin never has to sleep outside again.' This morning, the fundraiser had reached over 26,000 euros.
