Former President Referred to Prosecution
Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was removed from office and arrested on January 19, has been referred to prosecution by the Corruption Investigation Office.
The Corruption Investigation Office accused Yoon of 'leading an insurgency' and 'abusing power'.
Yoon was detained on January 15 for questioning, but refused to cooperate with authorities. Subsequent attempts to question him were unsuccessful.
The National Assembly of South Korea had requested Yoon's removal due to the unconstitutional nature of the martial law declaration.
Yoon, who became the first former president to be arrested in South Korean history, was officially arrested on charges of 'leading an insurgency' and 'abusing power' on January 19.
