washington - A former CIA agent has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for drugging and sexually abusing more than 28 women over a period of fourteen years.

A former CIA agent has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for drugging and sexually abusing more than 28 women over a period of fourteen years. Brian Jeffrey Raymond stored over 500 photos and videos of the abuse on his computer.

Raymond was arrested in October 2020 and faced a total of 25 charges. He eventually reached a deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to four charges including sexual abuse, violent sexual conduct, coercion, and transportation of obscene material. In exchange for this confession, the prosecutors dropped the remaining charges against him.

'You could safely say he’s a sexual predator,' stated Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly during the sentencing. 'You will have plenty of time to think about this,' she told the former CIA agent, whom she said had 'betrayed his government' and 'his country.'

Raymond, born in San Diego, worked for over 20 years for the intelligence agency. At the time of his 2020 arrest, he was working for the U.S. embassy in Mexico City, but he also victimized women in other countries where he was stationed, including Peru.

According to his prosecutors, Raymond followed a similar pattern. He would meet women through dating apps like Bumble and Tinder, addressing them in Spanish. He would introduce himself as a 'high-ranking' employee of the U.S. embassy and then arrange to meet the women in a cafe, where he would spike their drinks. He would then take the women to his diplomatic residence, rented by the embassy, where he sexually abused and photographed them while they were unconscious.
