amsterdam - Five suspects ranging from 19 to 32 years old will face trial in Amsterdam for the violence surrounding the football match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv. The suspects are accused of various crimes, including open violence.

The Public Prosecution Service accuses one of the suspects, a 22-year-old man, of attempted manslaughter. He allegedly kicked someone multiple times in the head. The man has been in custody since November 19.

The other suspects range in age from 19 to 32 years old. Two of them are also accused of sharing information about the violent acts. One suspect is also facing charges of group defamation of Jews in a WhatsApp group.

Both before and after the match, which took place on November 7, there were disturbances near the stadium, particularly in the Amsterdam city center. The incidents involved hit-and-run actions by perpetrators of violence, causing unrest, anger, and indignation, both domestically and internationally. The city authorities implemented an emergency order, designating the entire city a security risk area for some time and prohibiting demonstrations.

On November 11, further disturbances occurred at Plein 40-45 in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Groups of young people engaged in vandalism and set a tram on fire. Several suspects will have to answer for these actions in court at a later date.
