Extended Measures on Greek Islands
Precautionary measures on the Greek islands affected by seismic activity have been extended, as decided by the Seismic Risk Assessment Committee. Following a recent meeting, seismologist Kostas Papazahos emphasized the importance of adhering to the measures and urged citizens to comply diligently. Measures include avoiding crowded indoor spaces, opting for safe routes, and refraining from using specific ports in Santorini. The suspension of classes on Santorini, Yumurgi, Niyoz, and Anafiya islands has been extended until February 14th. Papazahos noted that over 1100 earthquakes above magnitude 3.0 have occurred near Santorini since February 1st, with no structural issues detected in the examined buildings.
