brussels - EU Foreign Affairs Chief Josep Borrell, 77, faced a setback during his latest meeting with EU foreign ministers. Borrell has been frustrated by the EU's stance on Israel, emphasizing more on the Palestinian cause.
Spanish socialist Borrell, along with the left-wing Spanish government, has been disappointed by the EU's approach towards Israel. He proposed sanctions against two far-right Israeli ministers last summer for their hostile language towards Palestinians, but his idea was not acted upon.
Former Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will soon take over as EU Foreign Affairs Chief. She considers the situation in the Middle East a priority, but is expected to focus on the war in Ukraine and the support provided by countries like North Korea, China, and Iran to Russia.
