After the sentencing of the first group of suspects in the Gisèle Pelicot rape case, prosecutors have continued with their closing arguments. On Tuesday, a new group of eight suspects heard their sentences. The public prosecutors at the Vaucluse Court in Avignon demanded a twelve-year prison term for them.
Among the suspects, Boris M., 37 years old, was sentenced to twelve years in prison. He initially changed his statement during police custody, but later admitted that Gisèle Pelicot had not given him consent. At the beginning of the trial, he pleaded not guilty to rape.
Twelve years imprisonment was also demanded for Cyril B., 47 years old, and Thierry Pa., 54 years old, who both denied the accusations against them. Omar D., Jean T., Mahdi D., Ahmed T., and Redouane A. also received a twelve-year prison sentence each, with varying defenses and claims of innocence.
The prosecution has until Wednesday to request a verdict for each of the 51 defendants in the case, taking into account their individual circumstances, criminal records, and alleged actions. The final verdict is expected by December 20.
