E. Coli Outbreak Linked to McDonald's Hamburgers Continues to Spread in the US

united states - The deadly E. coli outbreak in the United States linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounder hamburgers continues to spread, with 75 confirmed cases reported across thirteen states.

The outbreak has led to 22 hospitalizations and one fatality. The CDC has launched an investigation into the cause of the contamination.

McDonald's suspects that the onions used in the hamburgers may be the source of the outbreak. The fast-food chain has instructed restaurants in affected regions to remove onions from their inventory and has paused distribution of the ingredient there. A fifth of McDonald's locations in the US are temporarily not selling Quarter Pounders.

McDonald's has identified Taylor Farms, based in California, as the supplier of the sliced onions that the company removed from circulation. The federal health agency is also looking into the meat used in the hamburgers.
