Data Cable in Baltic Sea Sustains Damage
Finnish cable operator Cinia has reported minor damage to the C-Lion1 data cable connecting Finland and Germany in the Baltic Sea. The functionality remains unaffected, with the cable having been previously severed in November and December.
Countries bordering the Baltic Sea are on high alert following incidents of ships dragging their anchors across the seabed, resulting in damage to power and data cables. Western authorities suspect sabotage by the so-called Russian shadow fleet, ships allegedly deployed to circumvent international sanctions against Russia.
