Critical Meeting Date Set for Leaders of Northern and Southern Cyprus
cyprus - The date for the critical meeting between the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides has been determined for January 20th. The meeting will focus on the opening of crossing points along the island.
The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCAS) Nikos Christodoulides will meet on January 20th to discuss the opening of crossing points.
The GCAS Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis stated, "We approach this meeting with a constructive attitude and hope that the same sincere willingness will be shown by the other side to facilitate the goal of opening new crossing points".
The meeting between Christodoulides and Tatar will take place in the buffer zone under the auspices of the United Nations Cyprus Special Representative.
There are 9 crossing points along the 180 km ceasefire line that separates Northern and Southern Cyprus.
