los angeles - A potential disaster was narrowly avoided at Los Angeles airport. The air traffic control tower at Los Angeles International Airport managed to stop a private jet from entering the runway just as a Delta Airlines passenger plane was taking off.
In a close call incident at Los Angeles International Airport, the air traffic control tower prevented a potentially disastrous situation as a private jet belonging to Key Lime Air, carrying the Gonzaga University Men's Basketball team, entered the runway while a Delta Airlines Airbus A321 passenger plane was taking off.
The tower intervened as the jet, which had landed and was taxiing towards the gate, started moving towards the runway.
Contacting the jet's pilot, the tower urgently instructed, 'stop, stop, stop. This is a critical warning,' averting the near-miss incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident.
