shenzhen - Chinese court struggles to auction live crocodiles in Shenzhen due to lack of interested bidders. Company's bankruptcy leads to unusual sale terms.

Chinese Court Auctions Live Crocodiles

A Chinese court in Shenzhen is facing challenges in auctioning off 100 tons of live crocodiles due to a lack of interested bidders. The reptiles, owned by Guangdong Hongyi Crocodile Industry Company, are to be sold to recover debts.

Unusual Auction Terms

Interested buyers need a permit for breeding and keeping wild crocodiles. They must cover all expenses related to transportation, catching, and loading the animals, at their own risk.

Industry Use and Price Drop

Crocodile farming in China is common for various products like makeup and wine. Despite aiming to raise over 4 million yuan through auctions, previous attempts failed, resulting in a price reduction from 5 million yuan.

Strict Buyer Criteria

Buyers must demonstrate suitability for crocodile care and possess proper facilities for housing the reptiles.
