la paz, bolivia - At least 31 people have died in a bus accident in Bolivia, with several others injured.

Tragic Bus Accident in Bolivia

On Monday, a bus accident in Yocalla, Bolivia, resulted in the deaths of 31 individuals as the bus plummeted approximately 800 meters down a cliff. The driver is suspected to have lost control of the vehicle, causing the tragic incident. Among the casualties, ten adults and four children have been hospitalized, with some in critical condition.

The exact number of passengers on board remains unclear, but authorities believe that the speed of the bus may have contributed to the accident. This marks the deadliest accident in Bolivia this year, a country known for fatal incidents on treacherous mountain roads. Just last month, nineteen individuals lost their lives in a bus crash near Yocalla.

Annually, Bolivia, with a population of around twelve million, records approximately 1400 traffic-related fatalities. To provide context, the Netherlands reported 684 traffic-related deaths in 2023.
