liverpool - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made a blunder during his speech at his party Labour's annual conference in Liverpool, mistakenly calling for the return of 'sausages' instead of 'hostages' held in Gaza by Hamas since October 7.
Starmer made a call for peace in the Middle East during his speech, urging restraint and de-escalation at the Lebanon-Israel border. He called on the parties involved to take a step back from the brink.
He also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the return of the hostages, and renewed efforts for a two-state solution: a recognized Palestinian state alongside a secure Israel.
While the Prime Minister quickly corrected his mistake, the misstep went viral.
After the conference, Starmer is set to fly to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, where he plans to once again push for a ceasefire.
