British 'Parastronaut' to Make History
John McFall, aged 43, has been approved by the European Space Agency (ESA) for a mission to the International Space Station (ISS). McFall, who lost a significant part of his right leg in a motorcycle accident at the age of 19, is now set to undergo training for the mission. Out of 257 applicants, including thirteen from the Netherlands, McFall was selected as the ESA's choice for the parastronaut program in late 2022.
The ESA has confirmed that there are no obstacles for McFall to participate fully in long-duration missions to the ISS. He will train, participate, and return as a full-fledged crew member.
