london - British former military personnel, Daniel Khalife, has been found guilty of espionage for Iran. The 23-year-old man is accused of collecting confidential information for Iran, according to British media outlets.

British ex-military Daniel Khalife has been deemed guilty of spying for Iran. The 23-year-old man allegedly gathered confidential information to pass on to Iran, as reported by British media such as the BBC and Sky News.

The former military personnel was the subject of a nationwide manhunt late last year. He managed to escape from prison prior to his trial by attaching himself to the underside of a truck. Authorities were concerned that the suspect would flee to Iran or the Iranian embassy, but he was apprehended in Northolt after a few days. He later told the jury that it was 'a stupid idea' to imprison someone with his skills.

Khalife has maintained that he is not a traitor, but rather, he aspired to be a James Bond-like figure. He allegedly reached out to Iran after joining the military at the age of 16. During the trial, Khalife expressed his desire to impress the British intelligence services, where he hoped to work. Authorities arrested him after he made contact regarding the offer to become a double agent.

Authorities accuse the ex-military personnel of playing a 'cynical game' and jeopardizing national security. His lawyer argued that the plan to act as a double agent was extremely clumsy and resembled more of a 'Scooby-Doo' scenario than that of '007.'
