hội an - A newly engaged couple was found dead in their holiday villa in Vietnam on Boxing Day. Local police have opened an investigation into the mysterious deaths of the two individuals.
A newly engaged couple, Greta Marie Otteson (33) from Wales and Arno Els Quinton (36) from South Africa, were discovered deceased in their vacation villa in Vietnam. The bodies were found at 11:18 by the hotel cleaning staff, who immediately informed the authorities. Reportedly, Greta's body was found in bed on the first floor, while Arno's body was in a separate room.
The couple had been staying at the Hoi An Silverbell Resort in Quang Nam province. A provincial spokesperson mentioned that there were no signs of a break-in as the victims' belongings and phones remained untouched. No traces of violence were evident, but empty alcohol bottles found in the rooms were taken by the police for further examination.
Prior to Vietnam, Greta worked as a social media manager in Los Angeles, Paris, and Dubai. She met her fiancé, Arno, in Dubai, where he worked as a barista. The pair traveled the world together before deciding to settle down in Vietnam. They had been residing in the villa since July 4 and had applied for residency, according to a provincial spokesperson. They even adopted a dog.
The couple documented their adventures on YouTube. In their final video, released two weeks prior to the discovery of their bodies, they announced their engagement. Arno mentioned, "We are two people who grew up on opposite sides of the world and now live together in Asia. That's quite special. Life is chaotic, and it's nice to have someone who keeps you grounded."
The British Foreign Ministry is in touch with the woman's family and local authorities in Vietnam.
