pennsylvania - President Joe Biden is under fire for his remarks in response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's comments during Trump's final plea, calling Puerto Rico 'an island of trash', referring to Trump supporters as trash.

American President Joe Biden faced backlash after responding to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's remarks during Trump's final plea, where Puerto Rico was described as 'an island of trash', by labeling Trump supporters as trash. During a video call with non-profit organization VotoLatino, Biden stated: 'The only trash I see floating around is his supporters.' The statement caused uproar on social media.

The White House and Joe Biden clarified in statements that the remark was not aimed at Trump supporters. The American president shared on X that by his statement he was referring to Trump's rhetoric, not his supporters. 'Earlier today, I referenced the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico, expressed by Trump supporters during the rally at Madison Square Garden, as 'trash'. That is the only word I can think of to describe it,' Biden said.

Trump held a campaign event on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in New York. His campaign distanced itself from the remarks made by the comedian during the event. On Tuesday, Trump spoke at a rally in Pennsylvania where he described Biden's comments as 'terrible'. Trump's running mate J.D. Vance called Biden's words 'disgusting.'

Republicans compared Biden to Hillary Clinton, Trump's opponent during the 2016 elections. She referred to Trump supporters in 2016 as 'deplorable.' Trump joked during his speech in Pennsylvania that he finds 'trash' even worse.
