An 18-year-old Belgian woman has accused a 19-year-old French rugby player of engaging in 'certain sexual acts without her consent,' according to prosecutors. The alleged incident took place last summer, and the news has recently come to light, as reported by Sud-Ouest newspaper.
Following the accusation, the rugby player was arrested and placed in custody at the Corradino prison, Malta's largest penitentiary center located in Paola. After a month in detention, he was released on bail and has since returned to France, resuming his sports activities.
The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, maintains his innocence, as confirmed by his lawyer, Roberta Bonello Felice. As of now, there is a lack of concrete evidence in the case.
