vienna, austria - Three Austrian parties successfully form a coalition government, excluding the far-right FPÖ.
Austrian Parties Form Coalition Government
Three Austrian parties have reached a coalition agreement to form a new government. Following the elections at the end of September, the far-right FPÖ emerged as the major winner. Previous attempts to form a centrist government without the FPÖ involving the Christian Democrats (ÖVP), Social Democrats (SPÖ), and Liberals (Neos) had failed. Even an attempt by ÖVP and FPÖ to form a government together was unsuccessful.
However, ÖVP, SPÖ, and Neos have now come to an agreement on a coalition government, as stated in their joint declaration.
