Australian Police Recovers Tens of Thousands of Stolen Bluey Coins
sydney - Authorities in Australia have found over 40,000 stolen coins based on the children's series Bluey.
The estimated value of the stolen 63,000 coins was approximately 364,000 euros. The coins were produced in limited edition by the Royal Australian Mint and were inspired by the fictional currency 'dollarbucks' from the series.
According to ABC, the police then launched Strike Force Bandit to investigate the case. The investigation team has the same name as Bluey's father in the animated series about a dog family. The investigation previously led to the arrest of two other suspects, including an alleged employee of the company where the coins went missing. The 40,000 coins were found in a storage unit in Wentworthville.
Other stolen coins may have been resold. In August, an unsuspecting collector was found to be in possession of stolen coins.
