sydney - Two nurses fired in Australia for refusing to treat and threatening to kill Israeli patients spark outrage.
Australian Hospital Fires Nurses
Two nurses at a hospital in Australia were fired after a video surfaced of them stating they would refuse to treat and even kill Israeli patients. The Health Minister and Prime Minister expressed shock at the 'disgusting and shameful video.'
The video, involving Israeli videomaker Max Veifer and staff at Bankstown Hospital, captured disturbing remarks. A man in scrubs confessed his anger towards Israelis, saying, 'I am so angry that you are Israeli. Eventually, you will be killed and go to hell.'
In response to Veifer's question about treating Israeli patients, a female staff member stated, 'I will not treat them, I will kill them.' Her colleague added, 'You have no idea how many Israelis came to this hospital, and I have sent them to Jahannam (hell).'
Health Minister Park condemned the video, apologizing to the Jewish community and ensuring the nurses will never work in healthcare again. The hospital is now reviewing records of Jewish and Israeli patients to assess the nurses' and doctor's actions.
Outrage has spread beyond the hospital and government, with many Australians demanding legal action against the individuals. A petition denouncing their behavior has garnered tens of thousands of signatures.
Rashad Nadir, identified as the man in the doctor's coat, an Afghan refugee, dismissed his comments as a 'joke' and plans to apologize.
