Audio Fragment Reveals Last Moments Before Washington Plane Crash
An online audio fragment has surfaced capturing the final moments before the plane crash in Washington. The fragment, shared on LiveATC.net, features communications between the three-person crew of the helicopter, known as PAT25, and air traffic control. The aircraft involved, referred to as CRJ, was also mentioned.
At 8:47 pm local time, a controller can be heard instructing PAT25 to pass behind the CRJ. Shortly after, another aircraft reported seeing the crash, prompting air traffic control to redirect flights to an alternate runway at Reagan Washington National Airport.
Furthermore, a controller can be heard mentioning 'crash' three times, describing the helicopter and the airplane plunging into the river. 'I saw a fireball and then it was just gone. I haven't seen anything since they hit the river. But it was a CRJ and a helicopter,' the controller reported.
