At least 10 newborn babies killed in hospital fire in India

new delhi - A fire broke out in the neonatology department of a hospital in India, resulting in the death of at least ten newborn babies.
The fire broke out on Friday around 10:30 PM at the MLBMC hospital in the city of Jhansi in the state of Uttar Pradesh. According to NDTV, there were 54 babies in the neonatal intensive care unit when the fire broke out. Seven bodies have been identified, while three remain unidentified.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the deaths as 'heart-wrenching' in a message on social media. 'My deepest condolences to those who have lost their innocent children in this tragedy. I pray to God to give them the strength to bear this immense loss,' he wrote.
Fires are common in India due to poor construction practices, overpopulation, and a lack of adherence to safety regulations.
