The Ombudsman Office called for respect for civilians and international humanitarian law, urging an end to the conflict. The Mayor of the city mentioned that bodies were retrieved and transported with governmental assistance. The conflict was related to control over drug trafficking routes, stemming from personal disagreements at the top leadership level of a former FARC faction known as Estado Mayor Central (EMC) led by Nestor Gregorio Vera.
