Fifteen members of a Russian sect were arrested by Argentinian police on suspicion of human trafficking. The leader attempted self-harm during the arrest.

Sect Background
The sect, known as the 'Siberian Association of Yoga Friends' or 'Academy of Occult Sciences', was founded in Siberia in 1989. Leader Roednev promoted a doctrine of sexual liberation.
Criminal Activities
Roednev was previously convicted for rape and drug trafficking. He exploited sect members financially, socially isolated them, and forced them into drug-induced orgies, including minors.
Discovery and Alert
Argentinian authorities uncovered the group after a Russian woman, in a submissive state, sought medical help at Bariloche hospital. Hospital staff alerted federal authorities.
