An American 16-year-old has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first person to ever complete Tetris. Unlike many previous attempts, he used a modified version of the game that prevents the crashes Tetris is notorious for at higher levels, as reported by Het Nieuwsblad.

Tetris was originally released in the 1980s on the NES console by Nintendo. The objective is to skillfully arrange the falling blocks. Full rows disappear, incomplete rows remain, eventually blocking the screen.

For decades, surpassing level 29 was considered nearly impossible due to the blocks falling so quickly that regular button movements weren't fast enough. However, in recent years, players have developed techniques like 'hypertapping' and 'rolling,' involving extremely rapid button presses or finger movements across the controller buttons.

Although players managed to surpass level 29 using these methods, they encountered more significant challenges later on. For instance, in levels past 138, blocks sometimes have unusual color patterns making them hard to distinguish. From level 155 onwards, the likelihood of the game crashing when completed lines disappear increases.

These issues thwarted previous record attempts, such as the 13-year-old using the pseudonym 'BlueScuti,' who crashed the game at level 157 in January. However, the 16-year-old 'dogplayingtetris,' real name Michael Khanh Artiaga, modified the Tetris code to eliminate these crashes.

Nevertheless, the game still presented challenges for him. For example, in level 235, you need to clear 810 lines to proceed. The dark green blocks in this level also pose difficulty in differentiation compared to others.
